Job Description
Out of the Bubble Bakery is a unique allergy-friendly bakery-cafe located in Springfield, VA. Specializing in creating safe, delectable, and artistic desserts, this bakery distinguishes itself by catering primarily to customers with food allergies and dietary restrictions. The bakery operates mostly vegan and is completely dairy-free and nut-free, ensuring a safe environment for those with severe allergies. They prioritize quality, safety, and creativity in their products, offering beautifully crafted cakes, pastries, and other baked goods without compromising on taste or aesthetics. With a strong community focus, Out of the Bubble Bakery aims to provide an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere where everyone can enjoy fresh, flavorful treats worry-free.
Currently, they are recruiting for several positions including Cake Decorators, Assistant Bakers, Pastry Bakers, Counter Sales Associates, and Dishwashers. The employment opportunities include both part-time and full-time roles with competitive pay rates ranging from $14 to $20 per hour. Work hours vary by position, generally falling in early morning to mid-afternoon or late afternoon to evening shifts from Tuesday through Sunday. Each role involves key responsibilities centered on quality production, hygiene, and exceptional customer service.
The Cake Decorator role demands an experienced individual skilled in frosting and decorating a variety of cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. Candidates should be innovative with a keen eye for detail, capable of preparing icings and fillings, using fondants, and maintaining inventory control. Physical requirements include the ability to lift 50 pounds and remain active during long periods of standing, walking, bending, and other physical motions.
Assistant Bakers support the kitchen by preparing doughs, batters, frostings, and fillings alongside baking assorted pastries. Attention to cleanliness and sanitation is essential, as team members ensure work surfaces and tools meet health standards.
The Pastry Baker position involves a more advanced skill set including recipe scaling, creating new menu items, client communication, and detailed finishing of desserts. This role also requires strong inventory tracking and adherence to the bakery’s allergen protocols.
Counter Sales Associates represent the bakery to visitors and are tasked with providing friendly, efficient service, preparing and serving beverages, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked display area. Importantly, they communicate allergen safety information to customers clearly and respectfully, reinforcing the bakery’s commitment to customer wellbeing.
Dishwashers have a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen environment by washing dishes, managing chemical sanitation, organizing storage, and supporting overall kitchen operations.
Overall, Out of the Bubble Bakery fosters a positive team environment emphasizing punctuality, consistent attendance, and cooperative spirits. Employees enjoy team perks such as paid time off after six months, free daily beverages and pastries, and major holidays off. This supportive workplace culture is ideal for those passionate about baking, food safety, and customer service within a conscientious, allergy-aware setting.
