The role of Telehealth Counselor at Pinnacle Treatment Centers is an essential part of this mission. As a Telehealth Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting patients throughout their recovery journey. The counselor is responsible for providing comprehensive telehealth counseling services primarily to individuals struggling with addiction. Job Requirements
- Licensed or certified counselor in accordance with Board of Behavioral Sciences qualifications or recognized certification by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs
- Ability to maintain compliance with continuing education requirements including CEH or CEU
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding confidentiality and substance abuse counseling
- Experience in counseling patients with substance use disorders
- Proficiency in managing patient documentation and treatment plans
- Effective communication skills for telehealth counseling
- Ability to participate in team meetings and case reviews
- Flexibility to work full-time with varied schedules
- Commitment to adhere to agency policies and procedures
- Capacity to arrange community referrals when needed
Job Qualifications
- Possess a license that is in line with Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) qualifications, or certification that is recognized by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs
- Maintain compliance with the requirements for continuing education hours and/or units (CEH or CEU) as determined by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs and/or other regulatory agencies
- Experience with dependency and/or medication-assisted treatment (preferred)
Job Duties
- Ensure the completion of patient databases, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other essential documentation in accordance with applicable federal and state standards and agency policies and procedures
- Provide patients with orientation regarding objectives of the program, phase system requirements, rule and regulations, sanctions, hours of services, patient rights, and additional information to help patient adjust to the program
- Assure each patient is assessed and placed according to the treatment phases in accordance with Federal and State standards and agency policies
- Keep all patient files organized and updated for own and agency’s use in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Counsel patients in crisis situations by identifying patient resources and coping abilities to help patients cope with and take steps to resolve crisis
- Counsel patients who have refused to comply with specific program requirements to increase patient awareness of consequences of noncompliance
- Arrange referrals to other agencies and resources in the community when appropriate
- Perform treatment plan reviews
- Participate in case conferences and case reviews in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Develop and increase knowledge of federal, state, and agency regulations regarding confidentiality, methadone treatment, and substance abuse counseling certification
- Submit all internal and external correspondence to supervisor for review and approval
- Secure necessary documentation from patients, when appropriate, to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures
- Submit monthly and quarterly statistical reports to supervisor
- Attend team meetings and complete all training courses timely as required
- Other duties as assigned
