The role of Corrections Oversight Worker at Aramark involves supervising inmates to ensure that meal and food preparation aligns with established production plans. This position requires training inmates on proper methods of duty performance while assigning and coordinating work to promote operational efficiency within the correctional facility. The primary responsibility is to oversee the preparation and assembly of meals, ensuring compliance with Aramark standards and safety regulations. Duties include reviewing and approving production and temperature logs, supervising food preparation and tray assembly, ensuring meal service is timely and efficient, and maintaining sanitation standards. The Corrections Oversight Worker must ensure that recipes are followed accurately, proper portions are provided according to dietary restrictions, and storage areas are secured to maintain safety and security protocols. Additionally, this role includes responsibilities such as managing work and sanitation schedules, assisting with inventory management, and adhering to all security policies. The environment may involve physical demands like lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and prolonged walking or standing, as well as the potential requirement to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment. This position plays a crucial role in combining food service expertise with correctional facility security standards to deliver safe, quality meals in a controlled environment.

Job Requirements

  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • Minimum of one year of food preparation or related work experience
  • Ability to motivate and supervise inmates and/or team members
  • Must be able to obtain a food safety certification
  • Must qualify for and maintain correctional facility security clearance
  • Ability to follow basic safety procedures and policies
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and tact

Job Qualifications

  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • Minimum of one year of food preparation or related work preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Previous experience interacting with inmates a plus
  • Ability to motivate and supervise inmates and/or team members to attain quality and quantity of food production in a correctional work environment
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and tact
  • Must be able to obtain a food safety certification
  • Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and policies
  • Must qualify for and maintain correctional facility security clearance

Job Duties

  • Adhere to and maintain preparation and production guidelines according to Aramark standards by reviewing and approving production and temperature logs
  • Supervise inmates in food preparation and tray assembly
  • Ensure timely, efficient meal service and all Aramark guidelines are being met
  • Participate in preparation and serving of meals
  • Print and distribute recipes
  • Direct inmates in the use of Aramark recipes and train on proper cooking procedures
  • Ensure proper portions and any special dietary requirements are fulfilled
  • Obtain accurate daily population counts and review with staff
  • Adhere to security policies and procedures
  • Ensure storage areas are locked at all times
  • Ensure that all kitchen tools and equipment are returned to their designated secure area
  • Ensure all keys are returned and secured
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and sanitation schedules while ensuring that cooks, inmates and/or food service workers adhere to the assigned schedule
  • Assist in conducting inventory, properly receiving, and storing food and food related items
  • Requisition orders as needed for approval
  • Participate in the preparation, storage and assembly of meals and food items
  • Follow the company’s standard of operation for food handling and storage
  • Follow HACCP policies and procedures regarding proper food handling procedures
