This particular opportunity is for the position of Corrections Juvenile Food Production Worker, a classified, full-time, and probationary role situated at the Jetson Center for Youth. The salary range for this position is from $2,123.00 to $3,822.00 monthly, reflecting a special entrance rate of $1,280 biweekly for the pay grade WS-205. As a Corrections Juvenile Food Production Worker, your primary responsibility will be to prepare, cook, and serve meals that align with facility menus and dietary guidelines, ensuring the nutritional and safety standards are consistently met. Beyond food preparation, your role includes guiding and supervising youth assigned to kitchen duties, helping them follow structured routines regarding food service and cleanliness. This involvement supports the OJJ’s rehabilitative approach by modeling responsibility, teamwork, and daily discipline, fostering positive behavior and skills in youth.
Working at the Jetson Center requires adherence to strict safety and sanitation protocols, including maintaining cleanliness in kitchen, dining, and storage areas, operating kitchen equipment safely, and following institutional food safety guidelines. Additionally, the position demands confidentiality, mandatory reporting, and trauma-informed care practices to meet both legal and ethical standards in a correctional setting. Participation in PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) training and other required onboarding programs is mandatory, ensuring that all team members are prepared to maintain safety and respect within the facility.
Candidates should note that prior to appointment they must pass a drug screening test, possess a valid Louisiana Driver’s License, and clear a background check. Furthermore, individuals must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to any crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c).

Job Requirements
- One year of food service experience or training in an institutional, hospital, military, or commercial food service operation
- Twelve semester hours in food and nutrition, dietetics, or institutional management
- Must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to any disqualifying crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c)
- Must possess a valid Louisiana Driver's License
- Must pass a drug screening test and background check prior to appointment
- Ability to work full-time in a probationary status
- Authorization to allow prior employers to be contacted for reference checks under PREA guidelines
- Must be dependable and safety-focused
