Headquartered in Warrenville, Illinois, the Department operates five youth facilities across the state and provides extensive services focusing on treatment, development, and rehabilitation of juveniles. Employing over 900 staff members specializing in various fields including security, education, mental health, and programming, the IDJJ embodies a comprehensive approach to juvenile justice by acknowledging the distinct physical, emotional, and cognitive differences between youth and adults. The agency’s mission reflects a strong commitment to improving the lives of youth under its care, as well as supporting their families and communities through a developmental care model that builds resilience.

The Department of Juvenile Justice is currently seeking a Corrections Food Service Supervisor III to join its team at the Illinois Youth Center (IYC) in Warrenville. This full-time, salaried position offers an anticipated starting salary of $6,510 per month, with a full salary range between $6,510 and $9,311 per month. The role is under the supervision of the Food Service Program Manager, and the successful candidate will act as a full line supervisor responsible for planning, scheduling, and publishing menus suitable for both general and therapeutic diets. The position involves the direct oversight and monitoring of staff tasked with training youth in food preparation, ensuring food services maintain the highest standards of health, sanitation, safety, and efficiency.

As a Corrections Food Service Supervisor III, you will play a vital leadership role in a large-scale institutional food service operation within a juvenile corrections environment. The role demands an intricate knowledge of food service sanitation, large-scale food preparation, institutional regulations, and health and safety requirements. The supervisor will also serve as the acting Food Services Program Manager in their absence and perform additional duties that contribute to the smooth operation of the food service program. This position requires passing background checks and drug screening, as well as completing orientation training within six months of hire. The working hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, and it is located in DuPage County.

Working for the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice means joining a diverse and compassionate workforce dedicated to public service and equity. The agency values diversity and encourages bilingual candidates to apply, reflecting the broad cultural richness of the State of Illinois. The Department provides an excellent foundation for career growth with a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment that fosters professional development, collaboration, and community impact.
