Job Description

The Central California Women's Facility (CCWF) is a well-established correctional institution dedicated to the rehabilitation, safety, and care of incarcerated women. Operating under the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the facility emphasizes maintaining a secure environment while providing essential services such as healthcare, education, and vocational training to its population. CCWF is committed to upholding high standards in all aspects of its operations, including the dietary and nutritional needs of the incarcerated individuals. The facility values professionalism, integrity, and teamwork in delivering quality correctional services within a structured and regulated environment.

This job opening is for the position of Correctional Supervising Cook (CF), a critical role within the dietary program at CCWF. The Correctional Supervising Cook works under the direction of the Food Administrator I/II or the Supervising Correctional Cook and plays a pivotal role in supervising and training both staff and incarcerated workers responsible for preparing meals, particularly for patients within the correctional health care facility. This position requires ensuring that all meals are prepared and dispensed according to therapeutic diet orders prescribed by physicians, thereby directly contributing to the health and well-being of inmates requiring specialized dietary care. The role demands strict adherence to a comprehensive set of policies and regulations, including Title 15, California Code of Regulations Title 22, Department Operations Manual, Standard Operational Procedures, Diet Manual, California Retail Food Code, and the Food & Nutrition Services Manual. These guidelines ensure the highest standards in food safety, sanitation, dietetic compliance, and operational efficiency are met.

The Correctional Supervising Cook is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen facilities and equipment, ensuring a safe and hygienic cooking environment. The role involves supervising the conduct of incarcerated workers, maintaining order, and safeguarding the safety of both staff and inmates during kitchen operations. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to enforcing institutional policies while promoting a collaborative work environment. The Correctional Supervising Cook position at CCWF is full-time, with a monthly salary ranging from USD 4,586 to 5,639, reflecting the importance and responsibility of this role within the correctional dietary services team.
