We are actively seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to lead our payroll operations at our Anaheim location. This full-time management role is pivotal in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of all payroll processes, directly contributing to the satisfaction and well-being of our employees. The Payroll Manager will oversee payroll processing for multiple entities, managing everything from regular payroll to bonus and termination payments with accuracy and timeliness. Responsible for ensuring strict compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, this role carries significant responsibility in managing payroll tax reporting, audits, and regulatory adherence, particularly with an emphasis on California wage and hour laws. The Payroll Manager will also collaborate closely with finance to prepare payroll reconciliations and labor reports, supporting organizational budgeting and financial planning activities. This leadership role includes training and mentoring payroll and HR staff, developing standard operating procedures and internal controls, and serving as the escalation point for complex payroll issues. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical and regulatory expertise, exceptional analytical skills, and a proactive approach to improving payroll systems and policies. Job Requirements
- Business proficiency in payroll systems (Workday)
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive payroll experience with Workday
- Deep subject matter expertise in regulatory and compliance matters including HIPAA, ACA/PCORI, ERISA, Non-Discrimination Testing, 5500s, and related state/local laws
- Strong knowledge of multi-entity US payroll with excellent understanding of California payroll laws and regulations
- Expert knowledge in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university or 5+ years related experience and/or training
- Must have valid CA Drivers license
- Flexible in approach, able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment

- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university or 5+ years related experience and/or training
Job Duties
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple entities and pay groups
- Process regular payrolls, off-cycle payrolls, bonus payments, retroactive pay, and termination checks
- Review payroll calculations including overtime, premiums, incentives, taxable benefits, garnishments, and deductions
- Manage payroll funding and payroll processing schedules
- Serve as system administrator for Workday Payroll
- Lead user acceptance testing, payroll parallel testing, and validation efforts for payroll and HCM configuration updates, earnings calculations, and process enhancements
- Maintain payroll earnings, deductions, taxes, pay groups, and payroll business processes
- Partner with vendors and consultants to resolve payroll system issues
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations including California wage and hour laws
- Oversee payroll tax reporting and regulatory compliance
- Lead payroll-related audits including financial statement and workers' compensation audits
- Develop and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and workforce analytics
- Partner with finance on payroll accounting, labor reporting, accruals, and budgeting
- Analyze payroll data and recommend operational improvements
- Train and mentor payroll and HR staff
- Enforce company initiatives such as managing overtime and meal attestations
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex payroll issues
- Develop payroll-related SOPs, controls, and best practices
