The role of the Meeting and Events Planner at Unum is integral to the company's mission by ensuring effective support plans for corporate, Colonial Life, and Unum meetings and events. This full-time, onsite position requires the candidate to provide administrative and logistical support, utilizing specialized technical knowledge and meeting planning tools to flawlessly execute conferences and events. The individual will work closely with business partners and the Meetings and Events team to develop programs from conception to completion. Responsibilities range from designing event schedules and managing logistics such as travel arrangements and vendor relations to handling on-site execution to deliver exceptional experiences.
The Meeting and Events Planner will manage smaller-scale meetings and provide support for larger events, continuously improving processes and workflows. Furthermore, the role demands excellent communication skills to liaise with senior management, vendors, and attendees, ensuring all meeting requirements are met within established budgets. The planner is accountable for negotiating contracts, managing budgets, and coordinating promotional materials and recognition awards. Travel may be required to support event development and execution. This position offers a salary range between $53,300 and $100,700, commensurate with skill and experience. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Four or more years of meeting and planning experience
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced environments

- High level of professionalism
- Willingness to travel
- CMP certification preferred.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred, specialty in event planning, hospitality, or marketing a plus
- Four or more years of meeting and planning experience in a results-oriented environment
- Excellent organizational, time management, logistical planning, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities accurately under tight deadlines
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally at all levels
- Proven project management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated initiative and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- High professionalism and ability to relate well with management
- Willingness to travel for meeting support
- CMP certification preferred.
Job Duties
- Manage and support planning and logistics for corporate, Colonial Life, and Unum meetings and events
- Collaborate with business partners and Meetings and Events team to develop event programs from conception to completion
- Handle meeting logistical tasks including schedule design, travel coordination, vendor order review, and support materials management
- Provide technical support for meetings with registration site and meeting apps administration
- Track expenses and prepare tax reporting for incentive programs
- Deliver and track communications to business owners, vendors, and attendees to ensure accurate meeting details
- Manage onsite operations such as ground transportation, rooming lists, meals, and menu planning
- Oversee smaller-scale meetings and provide support to larger events as needed
- Continuously improve meeting planning processes and technical tools
- Liaise with senior management and external vendors to meet meeting objectives and budget requirements
- Research, negotiate, and manage contracts for event venues and transportation.
