The Team Member role at Sweetgreen is a critical position that serves as the frontline ambassador of the company’s mission and brand. Team Members are responsible for delivering exceptional hospitality and an outstanding customer experience while supporting smooth restaurant operations. This role involves a variety of responsibilities including food preparation, building menu items accurately and efficiently, customer interaction, maintaining cleanliness, operating kitchen tools and equipment, inventory support, and timely communication with team members. Efficient multitasking and staying organized during peak hours are essential to provide seamless service. The position demands physical endurance and coordination to handle activities such as lifting ingredients, operating equipment, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods. Job Requirements

  • Must be available to work a minimum of 12 hours per week
  • routinely handle items weighing 5-25 lbs and occasionally up to 40-50 lbs
  • able to bend, reach, squat, pull, and maintain physical mobility including navigating stairs and equipment
  • possess manual dexterity for handling tools and interacting with systems
  • capable of repetitive motions such as typing, chopping, cleaning, assembling, and mixing
  • maintain physical endurance through long shifts and peak periods
  • demonstrate coordination for multitasking and managing bulky items in tight spaces
  • must be 18 years of age or older
  • authorized to work in the United States
  • able to stand and walk for extended periods

Job Duties

  • Deliver exceptional hospitality while supporting smooth restaurant operations
  • prepare food including portioning, mixing, squeezing, chopping, and prepping ingredients
  • build salads quickly and accurately with correct portions and presentation
  • greet guests, take orders, answer questions, and provide friendly, efficient service
  • maintain a clean and organized workspace in compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
  • operate kitchen tools and equipment safely including knives, blenders, thermometers, dish machines, and POS systems
  • restock and rotate ingredients and supplies throughout service and prep shifts
  • communicate clearly with team members using verbal cues to ensure coordination and safety
  • follow prep guides and recipe cards to ensure food quality and allergen protocols
  • efficiently manage prep, service, and cleaning during peak hours
