The Coordinator of Student Organizations (Event Services) position within the Student Engagement division at the UNT Student Activities Center in Denton offers a dynamic and impactful role dedicated to enhancing student life through effective programming and event management. This full-time Student Services Coordinator position comes with a salary of $47,232 annually and retirement eligibility under the Teachers Retirement System (TRS). The role is designed to provide direct support and consultation to over 450 student organizations, facilitating engagement and meaningful collegiate experiences. In partnership with another Coordinator, the individual will manage the student organization Event Application process, oversee event logistics, and ensure compliance with university procedures. The role also entails adjudicating event-related violations, developing training programs for student leaders, and serving on event safety committees. This position requires strong collaboration with various campus departments and external units to foster a comprehensive network of support for student groups.

The Coordinator will contribute significantly to campus spirit and tradition by coordinating major involvement fairs such as the Mean Green Spring Fling and supporting the North Texas Spirit program. They will also manage budgets, maintain detailed records, and facilitate assessments to continually improve services tailored to student organizations’ evolving needs. Responsibilities extend to advising student government committees, overseeing communication channels like Eagle Mail for organizations, and co-supervising graduate assistants that contribute to the department’s operations. A strong emphasis is placed on fostering leadership development through presentations, orientations, and ongoing education related to student involvement.

Candidates for this role must bring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and two years of experience in student services, student affairs, or related counseling and advising roles. Skills in event planning, student organization advising, problem-solving, and communication are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. A master’s degree in Higher Education or Student Affairs is preferred but not required. The position involves some physical activity, including lifting, moving, and occasional work in variable environmental conditions, and requires a flexible work schedule that includes some evenings and weekends.

Job Duties

  • Coordinate the planning of involvement fairs including Mean Green Spring Fling
  • Oversee student organization Event Application process
  • Serve as back-up Chair to the Event Safety Committee and attend designated high-risk student organization events
  • Consult with officers, members, and/or advisors regarding student organization event planning
  • Advise the Student Government Association Raupe Travel Grant Committee
  • Co-train and co-supervise develop a graduate assistant
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date program and service webpages
  • Prepare, administer, and monitor budget for respective programs and services
  • Facilitate assessment activities that help improve Student Activities and services for student organizations and their officers, members, and advisors
  • Adjudicate procedures related to violations of Event Application Procedures and assign sanctions as necessary
  • Coordinate and develop training and services for student organizations regarding event planning and management
  • Serve as part of Student Activities staff support at all campus-wide events
