Job Description
DigiPen Institute of Technology, located in Redmond, Washington, is a renowned small college specializing in the fields of interactive digital media and technology. Established with a strong dedication to advancing education in computer science, game design, digital audio and music, as well as digital art and animation, DigiPen offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs tailored towards developing industry-ready professionals. Its reputation is distinguished by being ranked as one of the top 5 game design schools in the United States by the Princeton Review consistently for more than a decade, projecting its commitment to excellence and innovation in education. The institute prides itself on a rigorous curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, preparing students effectively for careers in gaming, software development, digital media, and related sectors. DigiPen maintains a dynamic campus environment that supports student growth through academic and extracurricular activities, encouraging creativity, collaboration, and leadership.
The role of Coordinator of Residence Life and Student Experience at DigiPen Institute of Technology is a full-time, salaried, and exempt position that includes a live-in requirement. This pivotal role primarily supports the Housing and Residence Life department, constituting about 75% of the workload, while also contributing to Student Engagement responsibilities for the remaining 25%. The Coordinator plays an essential role in creating a vibrant residential community by overseeing, programming, and supervising a team of Resident Advisors. Duties involve managing weekly staff reports, event proposal approvals, budget oversight, and conducting regular one-on-one meetings with Resident Advisors, ensuring a supportive and engaging living environment for students. Moreover, the Coordinator is integral in planning and executing housing operations, including opening and closing housing units for the academic semesters, coordinating maintenance requests, and producing a monthly housing newsletter to keep residents informed and connected.
Additional on-call duties require the Coordinator to participate in rotating after-hours support, ensuring residence safety and student welfare around the clock. In the capacity of Student Engagement, the Coordinator advises the Dragon Activities Board, supervises student leaders, manages budgets, and supports various campus events such as LAN parties, Halloween carnivals, and formal socials. The position also involves assisting with communications through multiple platforms and supporting New Student Orientation by serving on a steering committee. DigiPen offers a competitive salary range between $57,000 and $62,000 per year, alongside housing opportunities valued at approximately $32,000 annually, which includes rent and utilities. This role not only encompasses administrative and supervisory responsibilities but also fosters an inclusive, safe, and enriching student living experience that aligns with DigiPen's broader mission of creating a positive and diverse academic community.
