Job Description

The Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) National Office is a prominent faith-based organization dedicated to supporting pastoral leadership and advancing ministry effectiveness across its network. Established as a central hub for ministry coordination, theological resources, and pastoral care, EFCA is committed to serving pastors, chaplains, and ministry leaders with excellence and integrity. The National Office facilitates a variety of programs and services designed to equip church leaders and chaplains with the resources and support they need to thrive in their ministries. EFCA places a significant emphasis on spiritual growth, professional development, and community engagement in alignment with its mission and values.

This full-time position of Coordinator of Pastoral Care Ministries plays a crucial role within the EFCA National Office team by directly supporting the Director of Pastoral Theology and Care (DPTC). The Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and management of various pastoral care initiatives, ensuring that these ministries operate smoothly and effectively. This role requires a blend of organizational expertise, project management capabilities, and strong communication skills to foster collaboration within the EFCA community. The Coordinator will oversee multiple important functions such as managing pastoral placement systems, providing customer support for placement services, administering chaplain endorsement procedures, and assisting with the creation and maintenance of ministry resources.

Working 40 hours per week, the Coordinator position offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan, paid time off, and paid holidays, offering both professional growth and work-life balance. The role involves a high degree of interaction with pastors, chaplains, district staff, and ministry leaders, serving as a key contact point for inquiries and facilitating seamless communication throughout the organization. Additionally, the Coordinator provides logistical support for ministry-related events and gatherings, ensuring that all activities are executed efficiently and in accordance with EFCA standards.

The ideal candidate will bring a committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion for ministry work. They will have at least three years of professional experience demonstrating strong organizational and project management skills, combined with a minimum of two years of post-secondary education — additional education is preferred. Effective interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with the ability to think critically and manage multiple priorities independently. Experience with database systems, web platforms, and Microsoft Office applications is also required to maintain accuracy and continuity in ministry databases and administrative tasks.

In summary, the Coordinator of Pastoral Care Ministries at EFCA is a pivotal position that supports and strengthens the operational framework of pastoral theology and care ministries. This role provides meaningful engagement with ministry leaders and contributes to the overall health and effectiveness of pastoral and chaplain ministries within the EFCA network. For individuals seeking a faith-centered career with a focus on ministry support, this position offers an excellent opportunity to serve and grow professionally within a respected organization dedicated to advancing the gospel and pastoral leadership.
