Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- preferably a bachelor’s degree in music or music education
- practicing Catholic and member in good standing of a Catholic parish
- thorough knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgical norms
- familiarity with sacred music and its use
- ability to play piano proficiently
- ability to sight read music
- experience in choir training
- strong vocal skills
- excellent communication skills
- ability to organize and lead volunteers
- ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- physical ability to perform job duties including lifting up to 25 pounds
- willingness to work flexible hours including weekends
- experience in audio/visual technology and livestreaming preferred
Job Qualifications

- knowledge of Catholic ecclesial life and church operations

- solid vocal performance skills
- ability to organize, motivate, and sustain volunteers
- leadership experience in directing choirs with varying proficiency levels
Job Duties
- Support the mission of St. Bernard Parish
- participate in parish team planning, decision-making, and leadership meetings
- perform duties within a predefined budget
- collaborate with parish staff and integrate music into parish ministries
- serve as a resource person on liturgy, music, and discipleship
- continue spiritual and professional development
- write petitions for weekly and special liturgies
- update and distribute liturgy notes
- arrange for priest coverages and reconciliations
- order necessary supplies including books
- recruit, train, supervise, and schedule all lay ministers for liturgies and services
- oversee training program for liturgical ministries
- create worship aids for funerals and holy hours
- plan and coordinate seasonal church decorations
- serve as liturgy resource for school and religious education
- plan and play music for weekday Masses
- schedule and manage all musicians
- coordinate Stations of the Cross, Holy Days, and weddings while ensuring license compliance
- serve as sound technician and manage all parish audio/visual equipment
- maintain licenses and file reports
- tune and maintain musical instruments
- create worship aids, programs, and song sheets
- direct choir and choral groups for liturgies
- plan music programs according to liturgical calendar
- assist with funeral planning and coordination
- manage livestreaming and create visuals for Mass and other events
- train and schedule volunteers for audio/visual duties
- manage media board programming
- perform other duties as assigned by the pastor
