Job Description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is a prominent religious and community-centered organization committed to teaching and sharing the Catholic faith, serving others, and fostering unity within the greater St. Louis area. Located at the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO, which historically was part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Archdiocese serves as the governing body and headquarters for Catholic activities and administration across the region. With a strong dedication to spiritual growth, community building, and social services, the Archdiocese plays a crucial role in uplifting the lives of its parishioners and the wider community.

The Coordinator of CYC Sports at the Archdiocese of St. Louis is a vital role within the Office of CYC Sports, which oversees a broad range of youth sports programs aligned with the Archdiocese's mission. This position assists the Director in developing and executing the vision and goals to promote engagement in athletics as a tool for the New Evangelization. The program focuses on integrating faith formation with team sports, supporting parishes in creating environments where youth can grow both spiritually and athletically. The Coordinator is responsible for crafting and implementing initiatives that connect sports participation with the Archdiocesan vision of "Disciples Make Disciples," emphasizing how playing sports can be an extension of Catholic faith and service.

The role involves managing and supporting various youth sports leagues and programs, including collaboration with parish athletic associations, event planning, and overseeing officials and volunteers. The Coordinator works closely with the Director and other staff to ensure leagues are well organized, from recruiting teams and securing facilities to scheduling games and championships. Additional responsibilities include training coaches and parents to effectively combine faith and athletics, facilitating parish readiness in sports ministry, and serving as a representative at sporting events and community gatherings.

This full-time position requires excellent administrative and organizational skills, as well as a passion for youth ministry and athletics. The Coordinator must be self-motivated, capable of managing multiple tasks, and prepared to work evenings and weekends for events and meetings. The role offers the unique opportunity to contribute to youth development and spiritual growth within the Archdiocese through sports, combining practical coordination duties with a higher purpose of faith integration. This makes it an ideal position for candidates who are committed Catholics and experienced in sports management or youth ministry and who want to make a meaningful impact on the community through the powerful vehicle of athletics.
