The role of Creative Design Studio and Mac Labs Coordinator at Saint Michael's College is a unique leadership opportunity situated within the College's growing Innovation Hub. The coordinator will oversee the daily operations and strategic development of the Creative Design Studio (formerly Makerspace) and Mac Labs, acting as a hub for students, faculty, and staff to engage with cutting-edge digital fabrication technologies and creative software tools. This role melds technical expertise with educational leadership, requiring the development, marketing, and delivery of workshops, technical trainings, design challenges, and special events that promote digital fluency, design thinking, and experiential learning.

The coordinator will work closely with the Innovation Hub, Information Technology department, and various campus partners such as academic departments and Student Affairs to expand creative programming and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. Beyond operational management, this role emphasizes mentoring and supervising student employees, cultivating an inclusive environment that celebrates cultural, ethnic, gender, and individual differences while encouraging leadership and technical skills development. Crucial functions also include managing equipment lifecycle and safety protocols, developing training materials and processes, and supporting faculty research projects through innovative learning opportunities.

Offering a salary range between $55,000 and $65,000, this full-time position is open to individuals who have experience working in similar higher education settings such as makerspaces, fabrication labs, or creative technology environments.
