The position of Coordinator for Aquatic Events and Facility Operations is an important role within the UMTC Recreation and Wellness department. Reporting directly to the Aquatics Director, this hybrid position focuses primarily on the supervision and management of competitive aquatic events at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center and the St. Paul Campus pools. The general work hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and Sundays as needed.

Key responsibilities of the role include managing the execution and supervision of aquatic events, overseeing event staff including student workers and interns, handling event contracts and budgets, coordinating sponsorships, and maintaining technical and facility equipment related to events. The role also contributes to facility operations by conducting regular checks, coordinating maintenance, supporting facility projects, and serving as a supervisor or lifeguard during programming hours when necessary. This position requires strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills to build partnerships with sponsors, renters, and university stakeholders and to ensure successful event delivery and safe, operable aquatic facilities.

The University of Minnesota values a candidate with a blend of education and experience in event planning, sports management, aquatics, and facility supervision. The ideal candidate will be proficient in relevant aquatic event management software such as Colorado Time Systems, Display Link, and HyTek Meet Management Software, have experience obtaining sponsorships, and be capable of managing part-time, student, or temporary staff. American Red Cross lifeguard certification or the ability to obtain it within three months of hire is also required.
