Job Description
Estes Forwarding Worldwide (EFW) is a premier domestic and international freight forwarding company headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. As a subsidiary of Estes Express Lines, EFW leverages the extensive Estes line haul network to provide a hybrid transportation network that spans air, ground, and ocean freight services. The company is recognized for its customized logistics and warehousing solutions catering to a wide variety of industries and clients both locally and globally. EFW has earned numerous accolades such as Specialty Carrier of the Year and E-Commerce Delivery Carrier of the Year, highlighting its position as a leader in the logistics and transportation industry. The organization also has been honored by Global Trade Americas as a prominent third-party logistics provider to watch, reflecting its continuous commitment to innovation and customer service.
EFW is currently recruiting for the position of Coordinator, Cross-Dock Operations in Bensenville, Illinois. This role operates within the North American Operations category and offers an hourly pay range between $21 and $25 with a standard shift schedule from Monday through Friday, 12pm to 9pm. As an integral member of the Operations Department, the Coordinator will play a crucial role in overseeing cross-dock activities, ensuring freight integrity, and supporting domestic clients with efficient transportation solutions. The position demands a proactive approach to managing transportation pricing and options, enabling the company to deliver exceptional customer service. Additionally, the Coordinator will be responsible for managing the workflow at the dock, supporting warehouse functions, and maintaining compliance with internal and external transportation and security regulations.
This role requires the Coordinator to harness a network of internal and external transportation suppliers to identify the most cost-effective and time-sensitive transport processes. The Coordinator will routinely evaluate transportation and pricing options, factoring in timing, availability, and volume while adhering to company policies. Acting as a primary point of contact for resolving customer and vendor disputes, the role calls for an individual with superior problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain positive relationships with service providers and clients. Handling multiple tasks under pressure, identifying shipments at risk of delay, and ensuring on-time delivery performance are key components of the role. Technology and detailed documentation are emphasized, with the Coordinator required to use internet tracking applications and maintain thorough trace notes and shipping documents, including handling special customer requests and complying with TSA and DOT regulations.
The role supports a dynamic and fast-paced work environment involving physical demands such as lifting freight, navigating dock equipment, and exposure to variable weather and warehouse conditions. The Coordinator must be flexible with shifts and ready for occasional on-call responsibilities. EFW offers a robust benefits package including paid vacation, sick leave, 401(k) plan with company match, medical, dental and vision insurance, short and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and a job referral bonus program. This position presents an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in a career in logistics and transportation, especially those seeking growth and development within a reputable and award-winning organization. EFW embraces diversity and provides an inclusive workplace welcoming all qualified applicants regardless of gender, race, or other legally protected status.
