Job Description

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, located in Grand Rapids, MI, is a premier cultural institution that combines art, nature, and community engagement. Known for its beautifully curated gardens and inspiring sculptures, the park also hosts a renowned concert series that showcases world-class musical talent. This venue not only provides enriching artistic and cultural experiences but also fosters creativity, community involvement, and educational opportunities. With a commitment to excellence, innovation, and stewardship, Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park maintains a welcoming and inclusive environment for visitors and staff alike. The garden is recognized for its unique blend of horticulture, art, and meaningful guest experiences, making it a beloved destination for locals and tourists.

The role of Coordinator, Concert Catering Logistics is integral to the success of the park’s concert series, working behind the scenes to ensure a seamless backstage experience for artists, production crews, and VIP guests. This part-time, hourly, non-exempt position requires approximately 25-29 hours per week, primarily during evenings and weekends aligned with concert schedules. The coordinator acts as the key liaison between culinary teams, event staff, and touring personnel to oversee all aspects of backstage catering operations. Responsibilities include managing the setup, service flow, and breakdown of food and beverage offerings, ensuring adherence to strict timing and quality standards.

In this fast-paced, high-energy role, the coordinator must be highly organized, communicative, and able to problem solve quickly under pressure to meet evolving backstage demands. Maintaining culinary operational standards such as food safety and cleanliness is essential, along with monitoring inventory levels to prevent disruptions. This position also demands strong guest service skills, accommodating dietary needs and special requests with professionalism and discretion. Collaboration with multiple internal teams and external stakeholders is vital to uphold a smooth event execution and create a world-class hospitality atmosphere.

Working conditions include moving between front and back-of-house locations, navigating stairways, corridors, and active production zones often under varied lighting and sound conditions. Physical demands require standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive motions during event setup and service. The role offers an exceptional opportunity to be part of a dynamic cultural environment, supporting live entertainment experiences that enrich the community. Employees are encouraged to embrace the organization’s core values of welcoming, excellence, innovation, integrity, and stewardship while contributing to a creative and culturally vibrant workplace.

If you thrive in dynamic environments and have a passion for hospitality, event logistics, and delivering exceptional backstage service, this role offers a rewarding chance to work at the intersection of art, music, and guest experience.
