Job Description

Xanterra Travel Collection is the primary authorized concessionaire in Yellowstone National Park, operating a diverse and extensive Food & Beverage (F&B) program. This seasonal opportunity places you at the heart of one of America’s most iconic national parks, where the natural beauty and vibrant community inspire a unique work environment. The company runs 47 dining venues throughout Yellowstone, ranging from fine dining rooms, fast-casual spots, cafeterias, bars, employee dining facilities, delis, and snack shops. With a team largely comprised of seasonal workers, especially in the summer months, the food and beverage operation is a bustling hub that is both fast-paced and rewarding. Working in such an environment offers excellent career development opportunities for those passionate about food service and hospitality.

The Cook position at Yellowstone National Park is an exciting role ideal for individuals looking to start or enhance their food and beverage career. The role involves assisting the restaurant Chef and Sous Chef with all basic food preparations, cooking, and production tasks. If employed as an Employee Dining Room Cook, the focus shifts to preparing meals specifically for park employees, ensuring their nutrition and dining needs are met precisely according to set recipes. The feeding of staff is a prioritized responsibility, emphasizing quality and efficiency. This is a seasonal role, typically running from mid-June through early November, with a competitive pay rate ranging from $19.00 to $22.50 per hour. The schedule usually averages around 40 hours per week, often requiring work on weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Live and work in one of the most spectacular natural settings in the United States, enjoying amenities like dormitory-style employee housing, low-cost on-site meals, free laundry facilities, included utilities, and limited Wi-Fi access. There are no Wyoming state taxes deducted from paychecks, which can be an extra financial benefit. Beyond practical perks, this position offers an energetic work environment with ample room for upward mobility and growth within the organization. The community includes people from across the country and the world, creating a diverse and vibrant workforce. Part of the benefits includes an Employee Assistance Program, Wellness and Learning & Development Programs, and unique perks such as complimentary national park passes, employee recreation programs, discounts on medical clinics, and more. Working here is not just a job but an adventure of a lifetime, surrounded daily by breathtaking landscapes and unique wildlife. This role provides invaluable experience for those in the culinary field and anyone who loves working in a lively, team-oriented environment that values excellent guest service and efficient operations.
