Job Description

Trillium Family Services is a dedicated organization committed to building brighter futures with children and families. Operating within the Portland Metro area, this non-profit entity aims to create safe and nurturing communities where children are healthy, and families receive the support they need to succeed. With a focus on prevention, health, and emotional well-being, Trillium Family Services integrates diverse perspectives and skills to foster a synergistic community grounded in values like non-violence, democracy, emotional intelligence, and social responsibility. Their mission prioritizes empowering the next generation, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to society through education, employment, community involvement, and raising healthy families. The organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is central to its operations, ensuring that every child and family can access opportunities for growth and support.

The opportunity at the Portland Metro campus invites candidates to join a passionate dietary team responsible for the preparation, service, and maintenance of meals. This role particularly focuses on the salad bar and assisting cooks with meal preparation for clients and on-duty staff. The position offers a starting hourly wage of $19.44 and requires a commitment to a work schedule from Wednesday to Sunday, 7am to 5:30pm, totaling 40 hours weekly. While a degree is not mandatory, applicants must possess a current Food Handler’s Card and ideally have over a year of experience in cooking large quantities of food for groups of 50 or more. The role suits individuals seeking meaningful work and career advancement, emphasizing excellent communication and customer service skills. Preferred experience includes hospital or facility cooking, although this is not a strict requirement.

Benefits for the role include 100% employer-paid medical, vision, and dental coverage for full-time employees, a 401k retirement plan with up to 6% matching, generous vacation and sick leave, free meals while on duty, and opportunities for career growth through continuing education and professional development. Candidates are encouraged to visit the Trillium Family Services website to explore the organization’s programs and gain a deeper understanding of its community impact. The pay range adheres to the Oregon Equal Pay Law, ensuring fair compensation based on experience and education. Trillium Family Services is an equal opportunity employer that supports a culturally and linguistically diverse workforce and provides reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities during the hiring process. The organization maintains a drug-free workplace and requires criminal background checks for all final applicants.
