The role of Cook at WellQuest Living is integral to the day-to-day operations of the culinary services department. Reporting directly to the Director of Food Service or Executive Chef, the Cook is responsible for preparing all food items strictly according to approved recipes and standards. This position requires the preparation of a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, and other food items, ensuring that all meals served meet the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation. Cooks must maintain a clean, organized workspace and adhere to all safety and sanitation regulations to provide residents with safe and delicious food at all times.

The Cook assumes full responsibility for the quality of products served, manages stock and line stations to ensure smooth service flow, and plans food supplies required for daily menus. A significant aspect of the role involves following strict plate presentation guidelines and maintaining consistency across all food items served. The position demands a proactive attitude toward cleanliness and professionalism, including proper uniform and nametag wear. Cooks also assist with dishwashing during breakfast shifts when time allows, contributing to overall kitchen hygiene.

In addition to daily food preparation, Cooks at WellQuest Living must be attentive to special diet requests and prepared to make authorized food substitutions in consultation with the Culinary Services Director. They assist in preparing special meals and events, ensuring all food complies with dietary regulations, including therapeutic diets. It's essential for the Cook to interact respectfully and tactfully with residents, family members, staff, and guests, fostering a positive dining experience for everyone. The role also involves adherence to attendance policies, timely communication regarding time off, and adherence to all employee handbook guidelines.

Job Duties

  • Prepare all food items according to recipes
