Job Requirements

  • Experience in dining services
  • Serv-Safe certification or willingness to complete within 60 days of hire

  • Experience in food preparation and cooking

  • Ability to stand for long periods and work in temperature extremes
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and carry heavy objects for 20 feet
  • Ability to pull, push, grasp, and reach for cooking activities
  • Organized and team-oriented
  • Wearing designated uniform including slip resistant footwear
  • Good personal hygiene
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in dining services
  • Serv-Safe certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire

  • Ability to read, write, and perform simple calculations

  • Experienced in food preparation, cooking, and quantity estimation
  • Knowledgeable of sanitation and safety requirements in food handling

Job Duties

  • Prepare meals according to approved menus and recipes
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area including floors
  • Participate in weekly cleaning routines
  • Report faulty equipment, broken or chipped tableware to supervisor
  • Report incorrect refrigerator and freezer temperatures immediately and record them twice daily
  • Ensure leftover food is properly cooled, stored, identified and dated
  • Observe good safety practices
  • Monitor and control portion sizes to minimize food waste
  • Remove frozen food items for next day preparation and begin meal preparation
  • Make menu substitutions with Dining Services Director approval
  • Supervise assigned duties and kitchen readiness for meal service
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and readiness for next day during evening shifts
  • Take and record food temperatures three times daily
  • Attend in-service and staff meetings
  • Complete all other assigned duties
