The position being offered is a vital role within the food services team responsible for meal preparation and food management in accordance with the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) guidelines. As a key member of this team, you will be entrusted with managing the daily food preparation process, ensuring all meals meet the mandated nutrition standards necessary to support the health and wellbeing of the children served. This role requires close collaboration with the School Administrator to efficiently manage the District free and reduced lunch program including reimbursement procedures and payment tracking.
Your responsibilities will include adhering to monthly food budgets and menus, assessing and adjusting vendor orders to meet projected meal requirements while minimizing food waste, and evaluating the quality of prepared food to ensure it is flavorful, appealing, and safe for consumption. You will also play a critical role in inspecting food and supply deliveries to verify adherence to order specifications and health requirements. Additionally, maintaining meticulous records such as invoices, temperature logs, meal planning, and meal counts will be essential to support compliance and reporting.
Safety, cleanliness, and high standards of sanitation are top priorities in this role. You will be expected to uphold rigorous kitchen hygiene practices, ensuring the kitchen and serving areas are maintained in excellent condition. Job Duties
- adhere to monthly food budget
- understand and adhere to monthly menus that meet all national school lunch program guidelines and meet mandated nutrition standards
- work with school administrator in carrying out district free and reduced lunch and NSLP reimbursement procedures including collection of free/reduced lunch forms, and cross-referencing payments to billing
- estimate food preparation amounts and adjust vendor order, if required, for the purpose of meeting projected meal requirements and minimizing waste of food items
- evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance, and temperature for the purpose of presenting items that will be accepted by students and/or staff
- inspect food and/or supply deliveries for the purpose of verifying quantity, quality, and specifications of orders and/or complying with mandated health requirements
- inventory food and supplies, place vendor orders, and ensure that the correct quantity and quality of food and supplies are available
