The organization’s mission focuses on fostering independence, improving quality of life, and promoting self-determination among those they serve. YAI offers a wide range of programs including residential, employment, and community-based services designed to meet diverse needs.

The residential program at YAI, specifically through the Riverdale IRA located at 281 West 261st Street in the Bronx, provides a supportive living environment where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities receive personalized care and assistance. This part-time weekend role, scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 4pm, presents an opportunity to make a significant impact by helping residents maintain a comfortable and safe living space. As a team member in this residential program, the role entails maintaining high standards of care, adhering to policies and procedures, and demonstrating excellent communication and time management skills. The individual will be part of a highly effective team dedicated to ensuring the health, wellness, and safety of residents while promoting positive relationships and community engagement. Key responsibilities include meal preparation tailored to dietary needs, housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning kitchen appliances, organizing supplies, and managing waste disposal. There is a strong emphasis on accountability, punctuality, and the ability to adjust to evolving responsibilities based on program needs.

The role requires completing mandatory training programs relevant to the position to ensure best practices are followed consistently. It offers a chance to grow professionally in a supportive environment that prizes diversity, equal opportunity, and respect for all individuals. The hourly wage for this position is $17.50, reflecting YAI’s commitment to fair compensation. Benefits include access to DailyPay which allows employees to get paid on the same day they work, tuition reimbursement programs to support continued education, a 403(b) retirement plan with employer matching contributions, life insurance and long-term disability coverage, and discounts on travel, entertainment, wireless services, and shopping.

Working at YAI is more than just a job; it is a career dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities. The organization prides itself on fostering an inclusive workforce environment where all employees are respected regardless of race, sex, gender identity, or veteran status.
