MC: Nutritional Services Core is a vital department dedicated to providing high-quality food preparation and nutritional services. The role of Cook/Baker within this service is essential to the operational success of the department. The Cook/Baker is responsible for preparing various food items as per menu specifications and production forecasts. This position demands meticulous attention to detail to assure the accuracy of recipes and the quality acceptability of the prepared food. Beyond food preparation, the Cook/Baker assumes responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the cooking area, ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines. This unscheduled and varied shift role requires adaptability and the ability to work independently to handle the dynamic nature of food service demands. The Cook/Baker must be proficient in operating standard kitchen equipment safely, possess good communication skills in English, and be capable of reading and following both written and oral instructions. Additionally, this role requires certification such as a Food Handler's Certification from San Bernardino County Public Health Department upon hire, with SafeServ certification preferred. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum six months food service experience with demonstrated cooking skills
  • Able to read, write and speak in English
  • Able to read and follow written and oral instructions
  • Able to distinguish colors and hear sufficiently
  • Able to safely operate standard equipment
  • Food Handler's Certification from San Bernardino County Public Health Department required
  • SafeServ certification preferred
