The role of Cook/Baker at Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus is essential in supporting the nutritional and culinary needs of patients, staff, special events, and visitors. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the standards of quality and safety in food preparation according to regulatory agency guidelines. As a Cook/Baker, the employee will be responsible for preparing high-quality food products that contribute to positive patient outcomes and staff satisfaction. The position emphasizes adherence to established food handling practices, sanitation regulations, and food quality standards such as taste, appearance, and proper labeling. Food preparation involves the use of kitchen equipment, including combo ovens, slicers, steamers, and mixers, ensuring that production schedules and quantity requirements are strictly followed. The role demands attention to detail in following production sheets and meeting the timelines established for food service delivery.

The Cook/Baker works closely with other team members to guarantee that food services align with the health system's standards and regulatory compliance. Preference is given to candidates with a High School Diploma or GED, along with relevant experience in institutional cooking and food service. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • minimum 1 year experience in food service or cooking preferred
  • Food Handler Certification - ServSafe required in Illinois
  • ability to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • willingness to travel as required
  • compliance with all federal, state, and local health regulations
  • effective communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • 2 years institutional cooking experience preferred
  • 1 year food service and/or cooking experience preferred
  • Food Handler Certification - ServSafe required in Illinois
  • Food Handler Certification - ServSafe preferred in Indiana

Job Duties

  • Label and date food products according to established procedures
