Currently, Liberty Healthcare and Rehabilitation Services is seeking a skilled Cook to join their team. This role is vital in ensuring nutritious and appealing meals are prepared and served to residents, staff, and visitors. The Cook position offers a rewarding opportunity for those who enjoy cooking and take pride in contributing to the well-being of others through food service. This role includes preparing food items according to planned menus, managing cooking schedules, and adhering to strict dietary guidelines to meet the needs of all residents, including those requiring special diets. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing a wide variety of meals, including desserts, pastries, breads, and salads. They will also be expected to carve meats in appropriate portions and ensure that food is served attractively and on time. This role requires a strong understanding of food safety protocols and the ability to follow tested recipes and established guidelines. Additionally, the Cook will handle special requests and create meal trays for residents who cannot attend dining room service.

Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must purchase and wear required uniform
- Must be able to use equipment safely without jeopardizing self or others
- Must use supplies economically
- Must attend in-service training and staff meetings as required
- Demonstrates neat appearance and good personal hygiene
- Must read, know and follow personnel, department and facility policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in food preparation and cooking preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen
- Previous experience in a healthcare or similar environment is a plus
Job Duties
- Follows planned menus
- Prepares food items for resident and staff meals as well as special events
- Plans cooking schedule to have food ready to serve on time
- Prepares and cooks food according to tested recipes and established guidelines
- Prepares desserts, pastries, breads, and salads
- Carves meats in portions required
- Prepares food for special diets
- Serves food timely and attractively in proper utensils
- Serves food either hot or cold as required
- Prepares and covers trays for patients not coming to dining room as needed
- Takes requests for extra servings of food or beverages
- Clears and cleans tables in dining rooms when needed
- Washes, rinses and sanitizes pots, pans and service ware according to established procedures and assists with other cleaning as needed or assigned
- Keeps stove, sinks, cabinets, tables and equipment cleaned and sanitized
- Maintains a clean department at all times including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, garbage removal, equipment cleaning
- Utilizes the most sanitary methods to handle, prepare, and serve food
- Assists with other dietary requirements as assigned including paperwork
- In the absence of the dietary director, will assume responsibility for the dietary department and will be in charge of staff
- If inadequate staff is available, will assume responsibility for finding replacements and will work an assignment is replacement staff cannot be found
