Job Description
The Wee Care Center is a dedicated childcare facility focused on nurturing and supporting young children and their families. As a reputable childcare provider, it emphasizes creating a safe, healthy, and positive environment where kids can thrive. Serving the community with a passion for early childhood development, the center places special emphasis on not just education but also overall wellness, including nutrition and health. The center operates with a commitment to inclusivity and excellence, ensuring that each child receives personalized care and attention within a well-structured program.
This job opportunity is for a reliable and team-oriented cook at The Wee Care Center who will play a vital role in preparing wholesome meals and snacks for the children in its care. The cook will be responsible for planning and preparing breakfast, lunch, and two snacks daily in adherence to the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines as well as state nutrition standards. This role is more than just food service – it involves mentoring and supervising college student assistants, maintaining an organized and sanitized kitchen, and supporting healthy eating habits among young children. The successful candidate will be a key player in ensuring the center’s kitchen operations run smoothly and safely while contributing to the well-being and growth of children.
Working at The Wee Care Center as the cook means contributing meaningfully to the community by delivering nutritious meals that help children grow strong, healthy, and happy. The role offers steady weekday hours from 7:15 AM to 1 PM, Monday through Friday, with no late nights or weekend shifts, providing great work-life balance. In addition to meal preparation duties, the cook will manage food inventory and storage, oversee kitchen cleanliness, ensure compliance with sanitation and CACFP requirements, and collaborate with leadership to complete required documentation and menu planning.
Ideal candidates will have experience in commercial or childcare kitchens, familiarity with CACFP guidelines being a strong advantage, and excellent skills in measuring, scaling recipes, and following detailed procedures. Coaching and mentoring student employees forms an important aspect of the role, fostering a positive, team-oriented work environment. The cook should demonstrate strong organizational skills, professionalism, and a passion for helping children develop lifelong healthy eating habits.
This position requires a high school diploma or GED with at least one year of related experience. Applicants must possess a current Utah County Food Handlers Permit and commit to completing CACFP and CPR training within the first 14 days of employment. Additional qualifications such as a Culinary Arts degree are preferred but not mandatory. The center provides a supportive and communicative team culture, emphasizing growth, purpose-driven work, and mentorship opportunities. Employment decisions are made fairly without discrimination, valuing each applicant’s qualifications and ability to perform the job.
