Job Requirements
- High school education or equivalent
- one to three years’ experience in food preparation
- ability to follow verbal and written directions
- proficiency with food preparation equipment and measuring instruments
- capacity to work scheduled mixed shifts including weekends
- commitment to sanitation and safety practices
- ability to handle repetitive tasks and maintain consistent food quality
- ability to work in a union environment
- physical capability to stand for extended periods and perform manual food preparation tasks
Job Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent preferred
- one to three years of experience in food preparation required
- ability to follow verbal and written directions
- familiar with formulas, charts, tables, and use of measuring instruments
- proficiency in sanitation and safety practices
- team-oriented with good communication skills
- ability to maintain quality and presentation standards
- willing to work varied shifts and weekends
Job Duties
- Prepares cold and cooked foods as prescribed by production sheets and supervisor
- trims and cuts meat, fish, and fowl
- bakes, roasts, stews, grills, and steam cooks meats and other foods according to recipes
- prepares gravies, dressings, and sauces
- tests food by taste and aroma to ensure quality
- prepares correct portions for serving
- carves and slices meat according to portion sizes and applies garnishes
- portions items into steam table pans following layout sheets
- sets up entrees for patient tray line and assists with taste and temperature quality control
- sends appropriate items to cafeteria on schedule and provides backup for food service lines
- manages use of leftovers in consultation with Production Manager
- follows sanitation, hygiene, and safety standards
- utilizes equipment efficiently to minimize waste
- returns unused stock to proper storage
- participates in special food functions and activities
