The Cook’s responsibilities include preparing a wide variety of dishes in accordance with standardized recipes and production guidelines, setting up workstations with necessary ingredients and tools, and properly measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items. The role demands safe handling of kitchen utensils and operation of equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers. Cooking methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming are commonly used to prepare meats, vegetables, and other foods. Additionally, the Cook will focus on food presentation by arranging, garnishing, and portioning meals according to set standards.

Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation is another critical aspect of the role. The Cook will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, and utensils to adhere to food safety policies. Job Requirements

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Knowledge of food preparation principles and food safety regulations
  • Ability to acquire food safety certification
  • Basic math and counting skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Physical ability to perform lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking or standing
  • Willingness to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE)

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Must be able to acquire food safety certification
  • Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

Job Duties

  • Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • Safely use a variety of utensils including knives
  • Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
  • Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
  • Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines
  • Properly store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers
  • Adhere to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
  • Ensure security of company assets
