This Cook position with Aramark offers a unique opportunity for culinary enthusiasts passionate about food preparation and creativity. Working as a Cook, you will be immersed in an environment equipped with fresh ingredients, state-of-the-art equipment, and supportive safety procedures designed to protect your health and well-being. The role allows you to experiment with different cuisines, flavors, and cooking techniques, providing a dynamic and engaging culinary experience beyond routine food preparation. You will be responsible for bringing recipes to life while adhering to Aramark's food safety standards and customer service expectations. This role operates across various shifts, including 5 AM to 12:30 PM and 12 PM to 8:30 PM, offering flexibility to fit different schedules.

As a Cook at Aramark, you will handle essential functions such as setting up your workstation with the necessary ingredients and equipment, preparing food items by measuring, chopping, mixing, and trimming, and using various cooking methods like baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming. The job also involves operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of your workspace, and ensuring proper food storage in compliance with safety policies. In addition to cooking, you will be tasked with arranging and garnishing dishes that meet established portioning guidelines, while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor towards guests, clients, and co-workers. This role may include some physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and uniforms may be required to maintain workplace safety.

Job Requirements

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role
  • Knowledge of food preparation principles and cooking methods
  • Ability to acquire food safety certification
  • Basic math and counting skills
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and bending
  • Willingness to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment when required

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Must be able to acquire food safety certification
  • Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

Job Duties

  • Cooks and prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • Safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
  • Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers
  • Bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
  • Arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines
  • Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers
  • Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
  • Ensures security of company assets
