The Cook position at Koelsch Communities involves preparing and serving attractive, delicious, and nutritionally balanced meals tailored to the needs of the community. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to food safety and hygiene standards, and an upbeat positive demeanor with a service-oriented mindset. Those in this position will work closely with the culinary team and dietary supervisors to ensure that all meals meet scheduled times and quality expectations. Responsibilities include preparing special diets as prescribed, managing kitchen inventory, storing food correctly, and following a structured kitchen cleaning schedule. Furthermore, cooks are expected to engage courteously with residents, maintaining a clean and safe environment while demonstrating teamwork and flexibility in a dynamic setting. The role is 100% onsite, with uniform and appearance guidelines strictly adhered to, reflecting the professional and welcoming nature of the community.

The ideal candidate for this cook role must be honest, dependable, and detail-oriented, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment. They will possess excellent communication skills in standard English and display maturity and professionalism in their interactions with residents, staff, and the public. Continuing education through attendance at required in-services and workshops is pivotal to maintaining high standards and compliance with community requirements. Candidates must be drug-free, able to pass background checks, and uphold the integrity and values of Koelsch Communities. Job Requirements

  • Must possess an upbeat, positive, flexible, and enthusiastic personality and be congenial with fellow employees, residents, and the public at large
  • Must be an honest and dependable individual
  • Must maintain proper hygiene
  • Must be professional in dress and presentation
  • Must be willing to be active during entire work shift
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in Standard English and use own judgment and initiative in daily activities
  • Must be a mature individual
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice
  • Must have strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Must be detail and team work oriented
  • Must attend required in-services/workshops to further education of skills and community requirements
  • Must be drug-free and submit to urinalysis drug screening upon hire and routinely
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check upon hire and as required by state regulations
  • The employee shall be responsible for maintaining the integrity of Koelsch Communities

Job Duties

  • Prepare meals that are appealing and tasty and served at the right temperature per the menu and schedule
  • Prepare special limited diets per policy and physician orders
  • Identify menu errors and make appropriate corrections as needed, bring the necessary changes to the dietary supervisor's attention
  • Properly store, date, and rotate food per food handling guidelines
  • Follow kitchen cleaning schedule
  • Relate to residents in a courteous, empathetic, and cooperative manner
  • Keep environment safe and clean
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor
