We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join the Culinary Department at The Hampton & Ashley Inn. This part-time position offers an excellent opportunity for culinary professionals who enjoy crafting nutritious, appetizing, and visually appealing meals for a vibrant senior community. The role requires evening availability, specifically Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.50 to $19 depending on experience. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that every dish served meets the highest standards of quality and presentation while complying with all food safety and sanitation guidelines. Emphasis is placed on catering to special dietary needs, recognizing the importance of nutrition in senior health and wellness.
The Cook will be responsible for not only food preparation but also maintaining a safe and clean kitchen environment, adhering strictly to food handling protocols, and supporting the overall culinary team's efforts. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in cooking or food preparation preferred
- Food handlers certificate as required by state
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures
- Must be drug-free
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Available to work Wednesday and Thursday evenings
- Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills
Job Qualifications
- All requirements related to the food handlers certificate per state requirements
- Knowledge of food preparation, production and plate presentation
- Knowledge of special dietary needs
- Must be drug-free and submit to a drug screening upon hire and routinely
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check upon hire and as required by state regulations
Job Duties
- Ensure food is prepared in a nutritional, appetizing fashion, and presented in an attractive manner per the menu and schedule
- Properly store, date, and rotate food per food handling guidelines
- Keep the environment safe and clean
- Follow kitchen cleaning schedule
- Perform other duties as assigned
