SpaceX is currently offering an exciting temporary employment opportunity for a Cook to join their culinary team at their Brownsville, TX location. This role is vital in supporting the daily operational needs of SpaceX by providing high-quality food service to employees, which is essential in maintaining morale and productivity across the organization. The Cook position is responsible for preparing food, managing food stations, and ensuring that all culinary operations meet SpaceX’s standards for quality and safety. This temporary position is designed for skilled culinary professionals with a minimum of two years of experience in the food service industry, who thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing daily menus and high volume food preparation. The role requires adherence to strict food safety protocols, excellent customer service in an open kitchen atmosphere, and the capacity to follow detailed recipe and portioning guidelines to minimize waste.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to carry large heavy items, such as dishes in tubs or trays unassisted (up to 25 lbs.)
  • ability to stand for long periods of time – up to 8 hours a day
  • ability to work all shifts and be available for overtime and weekends, as needed
  • ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of objects
  • to conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State

Job Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in the food service industry
  • restaurant experience
  • high volume experience
  • experience with a daily changing menu
  • possession of or willingness to obtain a food handlers card or equivalent
  • high level of professionalism
  • strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Job Duties

  • Complete daily prep tasks
  • ensure consistency and compliance with the restaurant’s recipes regarding portioning, cooking, and waste control guidelines
  • provide courteous and informative customer service in an open kitchen format
  • follow restaurant guidelines concerning guest services, food and physical safety, maintenance, and equipment/space cleaning requirements at all times
  • maintain a clean and safe workstation
