The Cook role is integral to the restaurant's operations, responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking all menu items precisely according to established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards. Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of cooking experience in a well-rated restaurant preferred but not required
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekend and evening shifts
  • Must have Food Handler's Card
  • Ability to work shifts involving long periods of walking and standing
  • Must provide own transportation
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to bend, twist, and stand for long periods
  • Must wear approved uniform, clean non-slip shoes and socks, hairnet or hat
  • Frequently works in a hot environment
  • Frequently works with sharp knives, utensils, and hot plates

Job Qualifications

  • 2+ years of cooking experience in a well-rated restaurant preferred but not required
  • Strong time management skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare food in accordance with food safety preparation guidelines, including cooking temperatures and times, and present food on the plate in a generally pleasing fashion
  • Follow recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving food items, including soups, sandwiches, meats, vegetables, and other menu products
  • Inspect the kitchen prior to cooking to ensure compliance with food safety standards, inspect all food items before use for signs of cross contamination or spoilage
  • Handle, store, label, and rotate all products properly and according to applicable state laws
  • Keep the kitchen free of health code violations and clean the kitchen according to the daily schedule outlined by the executive chef
  • Estimate expected food consumption, requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage
  • Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus, considering factors such as costs and special event needs
  • Use FIFO (first in, first out) method to ensure top quality food execution
  • Assist in dishwashing and maintain a clean dish pit when dishwasher has not arrived for the day
