Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Completion of pre-employment physical, urinalysis, and background investigation
- Passing of National Crime Information Center and credit checks
- Ability to obtain and maintain Food Protection Manager Certification
- Completion of "Introduction to Correctional Techniques" training
- Must pass Core Value Assessment
- Compliance with age limitations or provide proof of prior federal law enforcement service for exceptions
- Ability to carry out supervisory duties over inmate workers
- Willingness to serve a 1-year probationary period
Job Qualifications
- Sufficient training and experience in food preparation and supervision
- Ability to supervise inmate workers effectively
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles
- Experience in cooking for large groups
- Familiarity with special and modified diets
- Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANSI-accredited provider
- Ability to work in a correctional environment and maintain security protocols
- Successful completion of applicant assessment questions and background requirements
Job Duties
- Provide supervision and instruction to inmate workers assigned to food service roles
- Train inmate workers on food production, presentation, and sanitation
- Oversee receiving, storing, and issuing of food and non-food items
- Conduct security operations such as key control, knife and blade accountability, and contraband searches
- Maintain overall security of the institution while performing food service duties
- Ensure compliance with all sanitation and food safety regulations
- Coordinate preparation of regular and modified diet meals
