The Registered Dietitian 1 role within the Summit brand is a full-time, onsite position based in San Diego, California. This role plays a critical part in the Corrections segment by focusing on assessing and meeting the nutritional needs of assigned patients or residents in correctional facilities. As a Registered Dietitian, the successful candidate will provide expert nutritional interventions aimed at maintaining or improving the health status and quality of life of the individuals served, aligning with their personal health goals.
The role requires collaboration with the healthcare team to provide nutritional education to patients, residents, staff, and consultants. The Registered Dietitian will follow the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ standards of practice and ensure compliance with facility regulations. Additionally, the dietitian will work closely with various departments to establish procedures and policies related to dining services and nutrition, helping address challenges and uphold high standards of care.
This is a non-exempt position, compensated on an hourly basis, with a salary potential of up to $82,000 per year. The role also involves active participation in continuous quality improvement programs to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes further. Job Requirements
- Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or meets the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics requirements for eligibility
- completes 75 hours of continuing education hours every five years, in accordance with the CDR, utilizing the professional portfolio development process
- licensed or certified, per state requirements
- knowledge of regulation standards specific to comprehensive assessments, care planning, and residents’ rights
- ability to teach others, specifically pertaining to nutrition and dietetics
Job Qualifications
- Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or meets the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics requirements for eligibility
- completes 75 hours of continuing education every five years, in accordance with the CDR, utilizing the professional portfolio development process
- licensed or certified, per state requirements
- knowledge of regulation standards specific to comprehensive assessments, care planning, and residents’ rights
- ability to teach others, specifically pertaining to nutrition and dietetics
- bachelor’s degree in nutrition or related field (nice-to-have)
- experience working in healthcare or long-term care (nice-to-have)
Job Duties
- Providing nutritional expertise to the health care team and educating patients/residents, staff, or consultants
- following the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' standards of practice and facility regulatory requirements
- interacting with other departments in setting up procedures and policies, and in problem solving as it relates to dining service and nutrition
- actively participating in the development, review, and revision of continuous quality improvement programs
