Job Description
Summit is a dedicated food service provider specializing in serving correctional institutions across the United States. Their mission focuses on delivering nutritious and delicious meals to incarcerated individuals, ensuring every meal not only meets strict dietary standards but also supports positive social interactions within these unique community environments. As part of a larger organization, Elior North America, Summit operates with a commitment to equality, diversity, and professional growth opportunities. Elior North America, known for its inclusive workplace culture, offers employees chances for advancement and skill development within its various brand segments. They actively foster an environment that values diversity, providing equal employment opportunities to candidates regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status. Working with Summit and Elior North America means joining a team that prioritizes both the quality of service delivered to correctional facilities and the personal growth of its employees.
The role of Cook Supervisor at Summit's correctional facility in Ogden, Utah, offers a unique and rewarding challenge that diverges from traditional restaurant roles. This full-time, onsite position demands an experienced professional capable of coordinating and supervising kitchen staff to maintain operational efficiency and uphold rigorous food quality and safety standards in a fast-paced, highly structured environment. This role is crucial in ensuring that food preparation runs smoothly within the facility, supporting daily jail operations through the delivery of meals that are not only nutritionally balanced but also consistent in presentation and served at proper temperatures. The Cook Supervisor will lead by example, providing training and instruction to kitchen employees on food service and sanitation practices, while also enforcing adherence to portion sizes, appearance, and overall food quality. Attention to detail and multitasking ability are fundamental as the position requires managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously under strict timelines. Candidates should bring at least one year of culinary experience in a high-volume, quality-driven establishment with an emphasis on scratch cooking. Supervisory experience and comprehensive knowledge of culinary methods are essential to succeed in this role. In addition to overseeing kitchen operations, the Cook Supervisor will play a pivotal role in shaping the team dynamic, fostering a community-focused atmosphere that aligns with Summit's standards and goals. Compensation for this position is offered at $18 per hour, reflecting the specialized skills and responsibility inherent in this role. Employees can also expect a wide range of benefits including medical coverage, dental and vision insurance, voluntary insurance plans, discount programs, commuter benefits, employee assistance programs, 401k options, sick leave, holiday pay, tuition reimbursement, and paid time off, all aimed at supporting their well-being and professional development.
