The Food Service Supervisor role at Summit, based in Savannah, Georgia within the Chatham County Sheriff’s Complex, offers a unique opportunity to lead and manage food service operations in a correctional facility. This is a full-time, onsite position with a compensation rate of $20.00 per hour. Unlike traditional restaurant positions, this role demands a structured, disciplined approach that aligns with the security and operational protocols of a jail environment. As a Food Service Supervisor, you will oversee the entire meal production and service process, ensuring that every meal is prepared and served according to company standards and contractual requirements.
Your key responsibilities will include providing hands-on supervision during meal preparation, cooking, and portioning, ensuring that all meals meet the established quality standards. Leadership in this role involves managing a team, maintaining compliance with food safety regulations, and contributing to a community-focused kitchen environment. You will play an essential role in supporting the jail’s operations by making sure meals are prepared efficiently, safely, and in a timely manner. This position requires close attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and facility personnel.
Joining Summit means becoming part of a mission-driven organization working behind the scenes to improve the daily lives of incarcerated people through nutritious food and meaningful social interaction during meal times. The role is conducive to applicants who are organized, committed to quality service, and experienced in supervising food service staff. Applicants must be prepared to pass a background check consistent with the correctional facility’s policies and legal requirements.
