Job Description

Summit is a respected food service company specializing in providing meals to correctional institutions throughout the United States. Their mission is to ensure that incarcerated individuals receive nutritious, tasty meals in a setting that fosters social interaction and humane treatment. As part of Elior North America, Summit benefits from being connected to a large, diverse hospitality group that values diversity, equality, and the professional growth of its employees. Elior North America is an equal opportunity employer that supports career advancement, skill development, and an inclusive work environment for all employees regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status. Summit’s focus on correctional food service means employees contribute directly to the wellbeing of incarcerated populations by offering quality meals and overseeing meal service under strict regulatory and contractual standards.

The Food Service Supervisor role at Summit’s correctional facility in Midland, Texas, is a full-time, onsite position that offers an hourly wage of $17.00. This supervisory role is critical in ensuring that the correctional facility’s food operations run smoothly and comply with all quality and safety standards. The supervisor will have direct oversight of meal production and service, ensuring that each meal is prepared according to company recipes while meeting daily needs and contractual requirements. This role demands a hands-on leadership approach where the supervisor is actively involved in managing kitchen staff, overseeing cooking, portioning, and presentation of food to guarantee nutritional value and quality. Communication and organizational skills are key, as the supervisor must coordinate efforts among multiple employees and ensure compliance with food safety guidelines. Attention to detail is essential for upholding strict standards and delivering excellent service.

Working in corrections food service also means being adaptable and maintaining a high level of professionalism and responsibility. The supervisor supports not only food preparation but also creates a positive environment that respects policies and protocols unique to correctional institutions. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with management experience in food service to grow their careers in a specialized sector, supported by a company that provides comprehensive benefits and encourages continuous learning. Employees benefit from medical, dental, vision insurance, voluntary accident and illness coverage, retirement savings plans, paid time off, holiday pay, tuition reimbursement, and various employee assistance programs.
