The Cook Supervisor position is a full-time, onsite role located in West Chester, Pennsylvania, at Summit's correctional facility kitchen. This role focuses on efficiently managing the kitchen operations within a demanding and dynamic environment, ensuring that food service meets established quality standards. The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $22.00 to $24.00, depending on experience, along with a $1500 sign-on bonus as an added incentive.
In this supervisory capacity, the successful candidate will oversee and coordinate the work of kitchen staff, emphasizing the importance of culinary standards, sanitation, and timely meal service. Responsibilities include instructing employees on proper food preparation techniques and sanitation procedures to maintain health and safety compliance. This role demands attention to detail, leadership in fast-paced settings, and the ability to multitask effectively. The cook supervisor ensures that food portions, appearance, temperature, and overall quality adhere strictly to established regulations and expectations.
Candidates must be prepared to work under the security protocols required for a correctional environment, including passing criminal background checks and drug screening. The role requires reliable attendance and the capacity to follow assigned schedules. Prior culinary experience, particularly in high-volume settings emphasizing scratch cooking, is essential. Supervisory experience and product knowledge are critical components of this role, along with strong customer service skills tailored to this unique clientele. Certification such as Food Handlers is preferred but not mandatory.

Job Requirements
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening
- Must meet all facility security clearance requirements
- Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned schedule
Job Qualifications
- At least one year prior culinary experience in a quality and high volume establishment with emphasis on scratch cooking
- Complete knowledge of proper culinary methods, techniques, and standards
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience supervising a team
- High-level product knowledge
- Ability to provide friendly and helpful customer service in a fast-paced environment
- Food Handlers certification preferred
Job Duties
- Instructing and training employees in all aspects of food service and sanitation
- Ensuring meal services begin on time
