Job Description
Summit is a dedicated food service provider specializing in correctional institutions across the United States. The company is committed to ensuring that incarcerated individuals receive nutritious, delicious, and well-balanced meals at each meal service, thereby supporting health and well-being within these unique environments. With a focused team and structured processes, Summit prides itself on delivering consistent, high-quality food services tailored to the challenging and regulated settings of correctional facilities. Summit operates under the larger umbrella of Elior North America, a recognized leader in the foodservice industry that is committed to diversity, equal opportunity, and employee growth. Elior North America fosters an environment of continuous development and advancement, encouraging employees to build valuable skills for their career progression within the organization or beyond.
The role of Cook Supervisor at Summit’s correctional facility kitchen in Fort Collins, Colorado, offers a distinctive opportunity for culinary professionals looking to make a meaningful impact through their work. This position is full-time and onsite, requiring the successful candidate to manage and supervise the kitchen team within a correctional setting. Unlike traditional restaurant roles, the Cook Supervisor position requires adherence to strict safety and operational standards ensuring that meal preparation not only meets quality and nutritional guidelines but also supports the smooth and safe running of the jail. As a Cook Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating kitchen staff, including correctional staff and inmate workers, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring all meals are prepared and served on schedule and in compliance with dietary requirements.
This role offers more than just cooking - it provides an opportunity to develop leadership skills in a structured and community-focused kitchen environment. You will instruct and train employees in food service and sanitation practices, enforce portion control, and guarantee food quality standards are upheld for each meal. Candidates who thrive in fast-paced, dynamic settings, have excellent attention to detail, and can multitask effectively will do well in this role. The position pays $20.00 per hour and requires applicants to pass background checks per correctional facility policies. Candidates with food handler certifications and valid driver licenses for food transportation are preferred. Working with Summit and Elior North America supports professional growth within a company committed to diversity, employee development, and creating opportunity chains in the foodservice industry.
