This role offers an hourly wage of $21.00 and requires passing a background check in accordance with correctional facility policies and applicable law. Unlike typical restaurant kitchen roles, this position operates in a structured, disciplined environment where teamwork and adherence to safety standards are critical. The Cook Supervisor leads kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food preparation, sanitation, and operational efficiency in a fast-paced setting. This position is vital to maintaining smooth meal operations within the correctional environment while fostering a community-focused dining experience for inmates. Supervisory responsibilities include training and instructing staff, monitoring food quality to meet portion, appearance, and temperature standards, and ensuring timely meal service that complies with institutional regulations. The role demands culinary expertise, exceptional multitasking, great attention to detail, and the ability to manage a team effectively. Candidates must have a minimum of one year's culinary experience in a high-volume setting emphasizing scratch cooking, strong knowledge of culinary methods and standards, and a customer service mindset that prioritizes friendliness and helpfulness under pressure. Experience supervising teams is essential, and food handler certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Summit and Elior North America value diversity and inclusion, providing equal employment opportunities to qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status. The company encourages applications from a wide range of backgrounds and is dedicated to developing employee skills and fostering a culture of advancement. Employees can expect a range of benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, and other supports such as 401k, paid holidays, sick time, tuition reimbursement, and more.
