The Cook Supervisor role is a critical position within the Dietary Department at West Side House. The person in this role will take charge of preparing, cooking, and garnishing all meals served during their working shifts, ensuring that meal quality meets the high standards expected in a healthcare environment. Beyond food preparation, the Cook Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all dietary personnel during assigned shifts, providing leadership to optimize productivity and efficiency among the team. This role is crucial to maintaining a clean, sanitary, and well-organized kitchen environment that complies with health and safety regulations.

Ideal candidates will have experience in supervising kitchen staff as well as preparing meals in large quantities, often catering to diverse dietary needs specific to an elderly and medically sensitive population. A ServSafe Certificate is required or training will be provided, ensuring that all cooking processes meet industry standards for safety and hygiene. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ServSafe Certification or willingness to obtain
  • experience cooking for large groups preferred
  • experience supervising kitchen staff preferred
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • strong organizational and leadership skills
  • willingness to undergo on the job training if no prior experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent or education or experience in food management and preparation preferred
  • ServSafe Certificate or willingness to obtain certification through provided training
  • experience in supervision of personnel preferred
  • experience cooking a variety of food in large quantities preferred
  • no prior experience may be eligible for training on the job

Job Duties

  • Preparing, cooking, and garnishing all meals served during working shifts
  • supervising all dietary personnel during designated shifts
