Job Description

This job opportunity is with a reputable organization dedicated to providing excellent meal services for residents in a lodge setting. The establishment focuses on serving individuals in a caring environment, ensuring high standards of nutrition, cleanliness, and safety. It operates with a commitment to cultural sensitivity, particularly respecting Native American customs and traditions. This employer values employee development, safety, and a supportive community atmosphere, ideal for those passionate about food preparation and kitchen maintenance in a residential setting. The workplace emphasizes a high level of hygiene, organization, and teamwork to guarantee the well-being of residents and smooth kitchen operations. Employees are expected to contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to tribal safety policies and emergency management plans, ensuring both employee and resident safety under all circumstances.

The role offered is that of a Cook, which involves preparing meals and snacks for lodge residents, maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas, and managing kitchen inventory. The position presents a starting wage range of $18.86 to $24.07 per hour, reflecting the importance of the role and the experience required. This job offers a dynamic and engaging work experience where you will prepare daily menus, organize pantry supplies, and collaborate with supervisors to manage food procurement through external vendors. In addition to regular cooking duties, the role includes responsibilities such as managing leftover food properly, conducting deep cleaning of kitchen and common areas, and assisting with recreational cooking activities. The position may occasionally require lifting up to 50 pounds and involves both indoor and occasional outdoor work environments.

They will hold a high school diploma or GED and must obtain relevant certifications such as a First Aid/CPR certificate within 180 days of hire and a food handlers' card within 30 days of hire. Knowledge of the Privacy Act and cultural sensitivity to Native American traditions are also essential. Furthermore, the cook will work closely with the department supervisor, reporting equipment malfunctions and ensuring all menu adjustments and food needs are communicated promptly.

This position may require driving and local or occasional out-of-state travel. Candidates will be subject to criminal and character background checks, including the possibility of fingerprinting, to ensure the safety and integrity of the workplace. The job suits individuals who are detail-oriented, physically able to handle food preparation tasks and kitchen maintenance, and committed to providing quality meals in a supportive, culturally aware environment.
