Job Description

This job opening is presented by an organization dedicated to providing exceptional care and culinary services within a lodge setting. The establishment is committed to upholding high standards of sanitation, nutrition, and safety to ensure the well-being and satisfaction of its residents. Operating as a vital part of the community it serves, the organization offers a supportive and engaging environment that respects cultural sensitivities, especially towards Native American cultural knowledge.

The role of Cook at this establishment involves preparing meals and snacks for the residents of both lodges, working behind the scenes to maintain kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring that food quality and safety protocols are strictly followed. The starting wage range for this role is competitively set between $18.86 per hour and $24.07 per hour, reflecting the organization's commitment to compensating employees fairly for their skills and dedication.

As a Cook, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including food preparation, dishwashing, cleaning, maintaining inventory, and coordinating food procurement. This role requires a hands-on approach to organizing kitchen spaces, managing supplies, and helping with menu adjustments when necessary. Additional responsibilities include deep cleaning of common kitchen areas, labeling leftover food properly, and assisting with recreational cooking activities.

Beyond culinary duties, the position also emphasizes safety and health standards compliance, which aligns with Tribal safety policies and emergency management plans. The Cook will also be expected to help maintain a safe and respectful workplace atmosphere, supporting all safety regulations and possibly serving as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies.

A high school diploma or GED is required, alongside specific certifications to be obtained shortly after hiring, including a First Aid/CPR certificate and a food handler's card. Knowledge and sensitivity to Native American culture are essential to successfully performing in this role.

This job may occasionally involve driving, local travel, and infrequent out-of-state travel. Moreover, candidates will undergo criminal and character background checks as well as fingerprinting to ensure suitability for the position. The employer upholds a strong equal opportunity practice and adheres strictly to federal employment laws, encouraging all potential applicants to understand their rights as mandated by the Department of Labor.
