The role available is that of a Cook Team Lead, a vital position within the food service department responsible for preparing and cooking a diverse range of food items including meats, vegetables, soups, breakfast dishes, pastries, breads, salads, and other culinary offerings. This position requires hands-on leadership, culinary expertise, and strong organizational skills to ensure the efficient operation of kitchen activities. The cook team lead collaborates closely with the main kitchen and pantry to receive and manage food ingredients and supplies essential for daily meal preparation. The role involves reviewing production schedules to determine food requirements, assembling necessary supplies and equipment, and maintaining stringent standards of food quality and presentation.

This full-time role demands a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience as a cook, with demonstrated skills in preparing and baking a variety of foods using a full range of cooking methods. Additionally, the ability to safely handle cleaning equipment and supplies, organize and coordinate kitchen operations, and perform inventory management duties such as recording and ordering supplies is essential. The cook team lead will maintain clean work environments, monitor food quality, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Responsibilities also include catering special events, attending to equipment and food supply issues, and completing production sheets and other operational records.

Job Duties

  • Receive food ingredients and supplies from main kitchen and pantry as required for daily operations
  • review production schedule to determine food requirements including variety and quantity for preparation and assemble supplies and equipment for cooking activities
  • prepare and display a wide variety of foods such as vegetables, fruits, meats, soups, salads, pastries, breads and cereals in accordance with recipes using various cooking methods and test foods for quality
  • complete production sheets and maintain operational records
  • maintain clean work areas, utensils, and equipment
  • cater special events as required
  • attend to day-to-day equipment and food supply issues and ensure disposition of spoiled or unattractive food and defective supplies or equipment
  • record inventory and order stock
