Job Description
Sanford Health is the largest rural health system in the United States, dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America's heartland. The organization operates a comprehensive network of hospitals, clinics, and care facilities that serve communities across multiple states. With a focus on delivering compassionate, high-quality care, Sanford Health integrates advanced technology, research, and community partnerships to improve the health and well-being of the people it serves. Their commitment to innovation and patient-centered service has established them as a leader in rural health care.
This role is situated within the food services department of Sanford Health, a critical component of the overall patient care experience. The position involves preparing and assembling baked goods, cooking, seasoning, and serving food to patients, residents, staff, and visitors. It is essential that the food prepared meets strict dietary requirements and is served within the guidelines of the menu and food safety standards. The role emphasizes not only culinary skills but also sanitation, safety, and teamwork within a dynamic hospital environment.
The successful candidate will adhere to rigorous food quality standards, ensuring that every meal served is aesthetically pleasing, flavorful, served at the correct temperature, and prepared in a sanitary environment. Responsibilities include washing and cleaning duties to maintain cleanliness in both cooking and serving areas, labeling and properly storing food and equipment, and following detailed recipes and safety protocols. This position requires the ability to operate various kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, ovens, stoves, fryers, and more.
Teamwork and communication are crucial, as this role works closely with many internal customers and teams to provide the highest quality hospitality services. The candidate is expected to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing culinary environment, showing flexibility and a proactive approach to challenges. The role may occasionally require working independently and demands physical stamina, as it involves standing for the majority of the day and moving throughout the hospital.
The position offers varied work shifts across the United States, with no fixed scheduled weekly hours, providing a flexible working environment. Compensation ranges from $17.00 to $23.00 per hour, reflecting the specialized skills and responsibilities required. This is a non-union position, offering a supportive workplace culture with ongoing training including on-the-job training and potentially required certifications like Serv Safe and Basic Life Support depending on the location.
Sanford Health also emphasizes inclusivity and equal employment opportunities, encouraging individuals with disabilities to apply and providing accommodations during the application process. The organization champions safety education and professional development, ensuring employees meet continuing education requirements through departmental meetings and in-services, enhancing both skill set and career growth. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about contributing to health care in a meaningful way through food service, supporting patient nutrition, and enhancing the overall care environment.
