Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- One year experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred
- Ability to demonstrate literacy
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to supervisor and staff members
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Freedom from illegal drug use
- Freedom from effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace
- No history of abuse or neglect in healthcare setting
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- One year experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred
- Ability to demonstrate literacy and effective communication skills
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to follow written and oral instructions
- Knowledge of food safety and handling guidelines
Job Duties
- Prepare palatable, nourishing, well-balanced meals to meet residents' nutritional needs
- Supervise dietary department employees in the absence of the Dietary Manager
- Interview, hire, and train dietary staff
- Plan, assign, and direct work schedules and tasks
- Prepare work assignment sheets and manage staffing replacements
- Monitor and correct job performance of dietary employees
- Maintain food safety, proper storage, and cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas
