Riverview Health & Rehab Center - North is a reputable healthcare facility committed to providing exceptional care and services to its residents. As a leading institution in the healthcare and rehabilitation sector, the center focuses on enhancing the quality of life for its residents through comprehensive and compassionate care. The organization prides itself on maintaining a professional and supportive work environment that adheres to equal employment opportunity principles, ensuring a fair and inclusive workplace for all employees regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, handicap, or veteran's status. The facility is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of care while fostering an environment that promotes respect, dignity, and independence for all individuals it serves.
The role of the Cook/Supervisor at Riverview Health & Rehab Center - North is integral to the dietary department and overall resident satisfaction. This position contributes directly to the health and well-being of residents by preparing palatable, nourishing, and well-balanced meals that meet daily nutritional requirements and accommodate special dietary needs. The Cook/Supervisor not only prepares food but also oversees dietary staff in the absence of the Dietary Manager, ensuring smooth operations within the kitchen and dining areas. Duties involve supervising employees, managing staffing logistics, maintaining food safety, and monitoring meal quality to ensure all residents receive appropriate, timely, and attractive meal service.
In this supervisory capacity, the Cook/Supervisor is responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training dietary employees, as well as planning and directing work to maintain high productivity and quality. This role requires handling staffing challenges such as arranging replacements and managing schedules, including approving overtime when required. Additionally, the Cook/Supervisor evaluates employee performance, provides constructive feedback, and administers appropriate disciplinary actions with an understanding of organizational policies. This role demands independent judgment and discretion to uphold facility standards and maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
This position also emphasizes compliance with safety and sanitation regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures aligned with federal and state guidelines to prevent contamination and maintain cleanliness. The Cook/Supervisor actively communicates with management throughout shifts to optimize resident satisfaction and collaborates on preparation for inspections and ongoing in-service education. The role demands physical stamina due to frequent standing, walking, lifting, and other physical tasks involved in kitchen operations, along with the need to follow safety protocols related to emergency procedures and infection control.
