Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One year experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate literacy
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to supervisor and staff members
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Freedom from illegal drug use
  • Freedom from effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace
  • No history of abuse or neglect in healthcare setting

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One year experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate literacy and effective communication skills
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to follow written and oral instructions
  • Knowledge of food safety and handling guidelines

Job Duties

  • Prepare palatable, nourishing, well-balanced meals to meet residents' nutritional needs
  • Supervise dietary department employees in the absence of the Dietary Manager
  • Interview, hire, and train dietary staff
  • Plan, assign, and direct work schedules and tasks
  • Prepare work assignment sheets and manage staffing replacements
  • Monitor and correct job performance of dietary employees
  • Maintain food safety, proper storage, and cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas
