Job Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in culinary/kitchen and/or food preparation training/food handler’s certification or 1 year of experience in institutional and batch cooking in a fast-paced environment
  • ability to work with a sense of urgency and meet deadlines
  • comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • compliant with infection control and safety regulations
  • excellent communication skills

Job Duties

  • Shift Start Time
  • Prepares assigned menu items consistent with department standards for quality for all areas of service in support of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s mission, vision, and values
  • Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
  • Uses standardized recipes to prepare menu items for the patients, cafeteria, and special functions
  • Uses proper techniques and maintains proper temperature when inspecting, handling, preparing, serving, and storing all items
  • Covers, labels, and dates all leftovers and uses proper methods of waste disposal
  • Keeps accurate records of the amount of each item used and amount left on hand
  • Complies with infection control, safety, Department of Public Health, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration procedures and regulations
